Themes and quote from animal farm
Theme of Power:In the novel, Animal Farm by George Orwell, the sheep are considered to be minor characters but play a subtle important role. The sheep are easily manipulated by Napoleon and the other pigs and somewhat distract the other animals during important parts of meetings the animals have. For example, when Napoleon declares that the weekly meetings are to cease from here on forward, the other pigs protest against this declaration. The sheep are used to drown out the pigs that protested, in order to stop a rebellion from occurring, by chanting "Four legs good, two legs bad". In any colony, or in this instance farm, less intellectual animals are important to the structure of living on the farm. The sheep are considered the lowest form of intelligence on the farm, allowing Napoleon and other pigs, mainly Squealer, to persuade the pigs of the ideas carried out by their leader, Napoleon. Towards the end of the novel, Squealer manipulates the sheep's low intelligence by changing their chant from "Four legs good, two legs bad" to "Four legs good, two legs better". This new chant is so retainable due to the simplicity and the catchy play on words, making the sheep not even recognize they have completely gone against the way life was depicted to be when Old Major professed his hope for future generations of animals
Theme of Pride:
Pride can be both beneficial and harmful to animals and humans because in a way it can reunite them, but at the same time it can create difficult problems. At the beginning it starts off as good, but leads to a disaster. The pigs feel proud compared to the other animals because they have an advantage over the other animals which is intelligence.
Animal Farm Project:
Windmills
Most modern windmills have three blades. A number of variations have been tried, two blades, even one blade but three blades works the best, it’s won the evolutionary battle so to speak.
And most modern windmills rotate clockwise. We don’t think there’s any particular reason for that and there have been some that rotate the other way. But if you see a windmill in Britain and its rotating anti clockwise – you’re looking at it from behind.
Windmills are computer controlled. One of the main jobs is to keep the windmill facing the wind. To do this the computer monitors the direction and speed of the wind using instruments on top of the windmill
Also they move by wind. The energy windmills produce can be used in many ways, traditionally for grinding grain or spices, pumping water, sawing wood or hammering seeds. Modern wind power machines are used for generating electricity and are more properly called wind turbines. Windmills have been around for at least 1,300 years. The first windmills had vertical shafts and were reportedly built in Persia around the 7th century AD. Made of six to twelve sails covered in fabric or palm leaves, they were used to grind corn and draw up water. A similar type of vertical shaft windmill can also be found in 13th century China.
The distinct advantage of wind engines is their ease of use. Unlike custom windmills that had to be manually turned into the wind, wind engines automatically turn the sails into the wind. In fact, an operator is not required to make adjustments of any kind to keep the engine operating at peak efficiency. Regardless of weather conditions, wind engines are built to be self-regulating they even brake if strong gales prevent safe operation.
